The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) has honoured its Emirati summer students at a ceremony for participating in its activities and contributing to spreading awareness on the importance of conserving the nation’s natural resources.
Marking its sixth consecutive participation at Modhesh World, the entertainment hub of the annual Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) from June 11 to August 14, Dewa leveraged the reach of the annual extravaganza to promote its initiatives that aim to instill a culture of energy conservation in Dubai, especially among the young generation.
The Emirati students joined hands with Dewa as summer interns to ensure the successful implementation of all its activities during DSS.
“Dewa’s involvement with this year’s Modhesh World had an extra significance to it as we used the opportunity to communicate directly with the young children of Dubai and educate them on the benefits of preserving our natural resources,” said Fatima Aslam, manager, consumption sustainability.
“With 11434 visitors, the success of this initiative would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of the Emirati summer trainees who devoted their time and energy to this cause. Their support was vital and Dewa is honoured to have worked with them for these summer months.”
Ahmad Ali, manager of Modhesh City, was also recognised by Dewa for his assistance throughout the two month event.
In line with its focus on energy conservation, Dewa hosted workshops during its participation at this year’s DSS, highlighting the importance of recycling and the responsible use of electricity and water.
Four workshops focusing on different topics were held daily, with a total number of 120 workshops held throughout Modhesh World.
Adopting a fun-learning approach, DEWA also organized games for children on best ways to conserve energy. Special gifts and certificates were given away to all the participants during the activities. – TradeArabia News Service
